Coastline
Behavioral Health believes that recovery is a life-long process and
affects every area of life. Clients are introduced to concepts that
presents the philosophy and practice person centered therapy. The focus
of changing from the inside out. Coastline Behavioral Health believes in
helping the Client develop new behavior patterns in all areas including
family, employment, relationships, and living skills. Clients are
encouraged to utilize healthy coping skills and put these skills into
action. We believe such changes are crucial in a successful transition
back to a new lifestyle. Coastline Behavioral Health strongly
emphasizes family involvement to create a support network both during
and after a Client’s treatment.
Coastline Behavioral Health is founded on these basic principles:
• Strong Clinical Foundation
• Comprehensive Educational Program
• Treating the family as well as the client.
• Life skill development and enrichment
Treatment
Coastline’s approach is designed for the Client who is in need of a
structured, supportive and safe environment. We are here to help build
new healthy relationships, and repair damaged ones. The hours of
operation allow for Client’s to attend work and remain within the family
unit. Services that you may receive while in the program will include:
- Group therapy
- Individual Therapy
- Family education/therapy
- Alcohol/drug education
- Psycho-education
- Relapse prevention education
- Life planning
- Goal setting, personal and spiritual growth
The Client will learn about important concepts needed to provide a
foundation for recovery. Client’s also will learn how to identify and
reduce emotional and behavioral obstacles to recovery, how to put what
they have learned into their daily life (at home, at work, etc.), and
will develop a realistic and sound plan for aftercare and continuing
care.
After
discharge, Clients participate in a full aftercare program and alumni
organization that ensures the Client has the ongoing support for
continued recovery. Ongoing therapy or treatment will be provided as
needed and involvements in the Coastline Behavioral Health program and
self-help meetings are encouraged. Throughout the entire program,
Clients must attend outside support self help meetings. These may
include but are not limited to: AA, NA, SMART Recovery, CA, GA, OA, SA
and MA meetings.
When appropriate, Clients also receive
psychiatric evaluations, follow up and medication management. Trained
personnel under the supervision of the Clinical Director will perform
all counseling services. A therapist specializing in the area of family
therapy for Clients with drug and alcohol problems facilitates family
group.
What is Experiential Therapy?
Most traditional settings of treatment take place outside of real
world environments. The therapy itself becomes the focus and can at
times actually create barriers to growth. Experiential Therapy is a
combination of therapeutic methods or techniques that involves a wide
range of activities designed to practice new behaviors, and engage the
subconscious during the recovery process.
Coastline Behavioral Health uses elements of nature, physical
exertion, relaxation, and cognitive processing to explore underlying
negative perceptions, repressed emotions, and unresolved trauma that
have produced maladaptive coping mechanisms and barriers to a successful
recovery.
Experiential therapy assists the client to get outside of oneself and
focus on the present and address what arises from the inside naturally.
This approach is very effective for those who have a difficult time
addressing problem areas of life in a traditional talk therapy
environment. Some of the greatest benefits of experiential therapy is
that it heals the mind, body, and soul all at the same time. It improves
on feelings of wellbeing and instills confidence while developing
social skills and mutual respect. Clients at Coastline seem to thrive in
this environment and have the ability to break though walls that they
have not been able to with previous treatment experiences.
Experiential has shown to have a successful positive impact on those
who have depression, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, self esteem, substance
abuse, and many more issues.

The Family Involvement
Our program is designed to improve
family communications, address family issues and provide opportunity to
share in positive outcomes. The foremost goal is to heal the Client and
the family through counseling and family support. Clients are
encouraged to have family involvement. All family members and
significant others are strongly encouraged to attend family group and/or
individual family sessions as needed. Family members and significant
others will also be informed on how to contact Al-Anon, Coda, ACA and/or
other family therapists as referrals.
Assessment and Treatment
Your individual needs may vary between
your peers and that is why we personalize each treatment plan. Thorough
evaluation and assessments are conducted within the first several days
at Coastline Behavioral Health. A team of counselors will assess each
physical, social, emotional, and behavioral problem. A treatment plan
will be generated to meet the specific needs of each Client. There will
be periodic reviews to determine any other treatment goals that can be
added to the treatment experience.
